Pinging a room: alerts, sounds, and notifications
When you need a provider or assistant in a room now, Practice Pulse lets you ping them straight from the board. The ping lands on their screen, plays their alert sound, sends a browser notification, and shows up in the Alerts panel with a running timer so nothing sits unanswered.
Sending a ping
Section titled “Sending a ping”- On the board, select the person icon in any operatory column header. The Send Alert modal opens.
- Either select a custom shortcut button (these are grouped by team member — for example “Doctor needed” under Dr. Shah), or below the OR divider, choose a teammate from the Select a User dropdown.
- Optionally type a note in the Optional Message goes here… box.
- Select Send. (Select Cancel to close without sending.)
If you select Send without choosing anyone, Teamio warns “Please select a user first.”
What the pinged teammate gets
Section titled “What the pinged teammate gets”When you send a ping, the recipient gets all of the following at once:
- A browser push notification titled <Name> needed in <Op> (for example Maria needed in Scan Room).
- Their configured alert sound plays (set per person in Alert Settings For Employees).
- The alert appears in everyone’s Alerts panel on the right of the board.
The Alerts panel
Section titled “The Alerts panel”Each alert card in the Alerts panel:
- Is tinted with the pinged employee’s color.
- Is titled with the operatory name it came from.
- Shows the employee name and timestamp, your message, and a live Elapsed Time counter.
- Is dismissed by selecting the × on the card.
When there are no active alerts, the panel shows a gray No Alerts box.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”The pinged teammate didn’t hear a sound
Section titled “The pinged teammate didn’t hear a sound”Browsers block audio until a site is granted sound permission. The first time someone uses Practice Pulse, they may see “Please enable Sound for this site first. You will not be able to hear any sound notifications otherwise.” Allow sound for the site in the browser and try again. Until then, the visual alert and browser notification still work — only the sound is suppressed.
No shortcut buttons appear in the Send Alert modal
Section titled “No shortcut buttons appear in the Send Alert modal”Shortcut buttons come from Custom Alerts in Setup. With none configured, use the Select a User dropdown instead.
